Bonds of Love + Key

Bonds of Love is one of the modules in the Web of Themes collection, whose thematic approach allows the student to obtain more in-depth knowledge of a particular theme in English and American literature. This particular module on the theme of love, presents a series of carefully ѕelected poems, extracts of novels and an excerpt of a play written by 19th- and 20th-century authors. A springboard for stylistic analysis and generation of language, Bonds of Love provides a series of stimulating, carefully graded activities, which focus on familiarisation and comprehension of the texts as well as on their setting, narration, characterisation, language and themes. The module also includes authors’ biodata, a brief panoramic view of the literary development of the theme of love, explanatory notes, a glossary of literary terms, and cross-curricular tables which provide suggestions for students who wish to further expand their knowledge of the theme in films, English, French and Italian literature. A section in colour, Looking into Visual Arts, analyses the theme from an art historian’s point of view, acquainting students with famous representations by prominent painters. Is is also accompanied by an audio cassette.
